USCIS Green Card Processing Times Updated – May 2025

As of May 2025, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has officially updated the estimated processing times for various Green Card categories.

These updates reflect recent backlogs, staffing changes, and increased application volumes, especially within family-based and employment-based categories.

🗂️ Key Updates:

  • Family-Sponsored Green Cards (I-130):
    • Average: 10–14 months (previously 8–12 months)
  • Employment-Based Green Cards (I-140):
    • Average: 8–10 months
    • EB-2 India cases still facing long wait times (up to 2+ years)
  • Adjustment of Status (I-485):
    • Average: 12–18 months
  • Green Card Through Marriage (CR1/IR1):
    • Average: 10–13 months

📌 Why This Matters

Longer wait times can impact job offers, family reunifications, and legal stay planning. Applicants are encouraged to check the USCIS processing time tool for their specific center.

✅ Tip:

Make sure your application is complete and error-free. Missing documents can add weeks or months to your processing time.
